Mixed Media 21" x 17" Framed Shadowbox with glass front
The Camera: Can signify the internet or possibly being watched by an "undesirable" hence the zipper and creepy crawlies.
The sun: is made up of small mirrors (reflections/memories)
The Snake with a wrench in its mouth represents someone trying to meddle with a relationship.
The Tree: I made it myself from copper wiring and glass beads.
As well as other things I also made the steampunk airship which tries to bring another potential interference, note map of world, camera, antenna...
The Bluebirds of happiness: There are two, one is on the front door the other is above the compass.
The Mezuza has a letter Shin, represesnting Shin, Dalet and Yud which is one of God's names and also an acronym for Shomer Dlatot Yisrael I read this in Practical Judaism - Rabbi Israel Meir Lau)

Title: Recharge
Oils on Canvas 40"X30"
Oils on Canvas 40"X30"
Portraying Adam: In the Bible, when God created the "Human" it says "Viypach BeApav Nishmat Chaim He blew into his nostrils a Soul of Life". God created man and animals in a different way, the human body is made from the lowest of the lowest - earth, and the soul is from the highest of the highest. With the creation of animals it does not use the word Vayipach, because the life of an animal and its body are not so far apart they have a different type of soul.
Message of the painting: As dire as things are sometimes try to think positive and of ways to make things better for others. Basket with food from Gan Eden: Adam was allowed to take out important foods/herbs to plant on Earth, to help mankind.
Everyone's tolerance level is different as well as their experiences and coping mechanisms you're important. Take a little time to soak in some spirituality, make a connection with God on a personal level to re-energize. When man manufactures something the produce comes out looking the same eg computer wafers. However, God gave us each: different fingerprints, our eyes are different, our souls are individual too and our minds, even identical twins are different. Please pause for a while when you have no external distractions to truly comprehend just how fantastic this is.
Clothing: It says in the Bible that God gave Adam and Chava (Eve) animal skins to wear, I'm not privy as to what they looked like, I painted this fabric because I like the look of shearling.
One sister helping up the other sister is symbolic of סומך נופלים "Somech Noflim": We ask HaShem to support the fallen and it's our responsibility out of empathy and kindness to help those in need too when we can.
Hevel is herding the sheep. משה רבינו Moshe Rabeinu zt"l was the reincarnation of הבל Hevel. note the staff and snake which are in this painting to be prominent in Moshe's time, also used as a symbol of healing with the nechushtan, which had to be destroyed because people were misconstruing it's meaning and were worshipping it many years later in one of the temples.
The snake's first sin was Lashon Hara: "mi haish hechafetz chaim ohev yamim lirot tov, natzor lashoncha mera usfatecha midaber mirma" נצר לשונך מרע ושפתיך מדבר מרמה
Man's first sin was with food - That's why we fast, health permitting, health always comes first.
Primates are there in the same timeframe as a reminder that we did not evolve from them, in fact the opposite happens in the way man can behave. Different primates have bad traits from mild to evil, starting with behaving like a monkey when drunk to killing our own species like the chimpanzee. Look at the letter Bet that starts Bereshit it's closed on all sides except forward facing in Hebrew you read from right to left. We're being told by Hashem not to be concerned with what's up in space not to look back into the past too much and not to be concerned with what's underground (bones, dinosaurs etc). The other creations were destroyed Adam HaRishon is our "human" beginning, not "Primate Lucy" or evolution from the sea or anywhere else.
In Nishmat Kol Chai (Shabbath morning services): VeRuach UNeshama SheNafachta BeaPenu VeLoshon Asher Samta BeFinu, no animal is the same as a human. ורוח ונשמה שנפחת באפינו ולשון אשר שמת בפינו
Adaptation has occurred sometimes very quickly in our past, firstly in a negative way from Adam to Noach's generation there was a degradation spiritually and physically amongst animals too, eg outside species breeding, next with Noach and his family coming out of the Ark the air/atmosphere was different (that's why carbon dating is not accurate) also man was vegetarian since even the bark of a tree used to have super nourishment, so our digestion has changed. "The tower of Bavel", was also fast adaptation, not only with language but when they dispersed their features changed to be able to flourish in their new environment examples are skin color, facial features and hair.
Rams: איל Symbolic crossing over from the Garden of Eden to Earth. The ram was used as an offering in place of Yitzchak Avinu, also the ram's horn the Shofar to wake our souls up in the month of Elul and it was used in battle eg Yericho, we also mention the ram in our tefillah since it was brought as an offering to the Beit HaMikdash.

choshen חושן The High Priest's Breastplate
Yaakov with his wives Rachel, Leah, Bilhah and Zilpah had 12 sons: Reuven, Shimon, Levi, Yehuda, Yissachar, Zevulan, Dan, Naftali, Gad, Asher, Yosef and Binyamin. Yosef's 2 sons Ephrayim and Menashe (not on the choshen) were gifted land inheritance in Israel.
Donations צדקה from the 4 Choshen have gone to ilanot, american friends of ilan: A school for challenged children: Jews and Arabs, religious and non-religious.
A lot of care, time, dedication, patience and attention to detail were put into making these. I made the gemstones using acrylic epoxy in handmade molds. The names of the tribes on each stone are in gold acrylic paint. Above Reuven are the names of our forefathers and below Benyamin are the words shivtei yeshurun, this is so that all the letters on the choshen make up the entire Alef Bet = Aluf Bina.
Headings are in oil paint, background is golden metallic leaf on canvas.

Size including frame is 14.50’ x 17.25” This one brought in $2,250 by anonymous for charity.
The most popular sentence (posuk) in the whole of Judaism. The Ayin and Daled are slightly larger making up the word Eyd - witness, proclaiming Yes I agree there is but only one God.
Did you know? as it is written "........You shall love God with all your heart" - Which our sages interpret (basing themselves on the use of the dual form of the word - Levavcha instead of Libecha, which allows the verse to imply "with all your hearts": With both your natures, with your good inclination and also your evil inclination. i.e the lust of the animal soul must also come to love G-d
